Ethereum Foundation Launches AI Team to Build a ‘Decentralized AI Stack’

The Ethereum Foundation is launching a new AI team

Starting a committed full-time team, the Ethereum Foundation is striving to position itself as not only the base of a major player in the larger field of artificial intelligence software development but also the artificial intelligence economy.

Inspired by Ethereum’s ongoing ideals of decentralisation and democracy, the AI team will focus on advancing artificial intelligence systems. It attracts prominent figures from the off-chain artificial intelligence industry to the network while also supporting the cryptocurrency ecosystem. In an interview with Decrypt, Davide Crapis, an Ethereum core developer who will lead the dAI team, said, “Our objective is to link blockchain entities with artificial intelligence companies.”

Two more full-time roles will be added to the team; the Ethereum Foundation is now looking for these. Crapis stressed that the Ethereum Foundation’s dedication to a full-time AI program shows its understanding that the long-term survival of the company will depend on this industry. The team will give implementation of suggestions like ERC-8004 trustless agents top priority in the near future, which attempts to create a standard allowing artificial intelligence agents to naturally find, authenticate, and conduct business with one another all around the Ethereum network.

Still under finalization, this suggestion aims to establish Ethereum as the main settlement layer for the quickly expanding AI agent industry. It is slated to be revealed in its finished form at Devconnect, an Ethereum developer conference slated for Buenos Aires this November. Looking ahead, Crapis said that his team will be committed to the much bigger goal of developing a decentralized AI stack meant to make sure a select few powerful businesses cannot control the future of artificial intelligence.

This does not mean that Ethereum is preparing for a fight against OpenAI or PayPal’s new Links feature. Crapis sees artificial intelligence as Ethereum’s next chance in distributed finance, one that, following years of grassroots acceptance, will eventually draw in even those centralized institutions that were formerly reluctant.
