Mac mini M5 and M5 Pro Models Reportedly in Development

Apple is developing a refreshed Mac mini

Showing a little computer with a small footprint that fits surprisingly efficient and powerful inside components, Apple made a major design change with the refreshed Mac mini’s M4 and M4 Pro variants. The business is expected to keep this exterior design when it formally releases an upgraded version compatible with either an M5 or an M5 Pro chip. Recent studies show that a new variant is being tested right now; therefore, a launch could take place within the next few months.

Other than a rise in specs, the refreshed M5 or M5 Pro Mac mini probably won’t provide any especially novel new capabilities. Sources aware of Apple’s plans have advised AppleInsider that development is in progress for an updated Mac mini, which bears the distinctive identifier J873g. Last month, AppleInsider revealed that another model carrying the name J873s was under consideration, therefore implying it denotes a refreshed Mac. The M4-powered model is assigned the model number J773g; the more sturdy variant with the M4 Pro bears the model number J773s for reference. The question is would they come with the new icon pack after Apple retired the classic Macintosh HD icon.

Given this data, it appears almost certain that the purchase of a newly refreshed Mac mini with M5 and M5 Pro options will soon be possible. Sadly, aside from a marginally better chipset, we doubt Apple will offer anything that sets it apart from the current model. Still, its exceptional price-to-performance ratio has always been one of the main benefits of having a Mac mini. Priced at $499 with an option to double the internal storage for $689 on Amazon, the basic model sports 16GB of unified RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Concerning the M4 Pro edition, it has 24GB of integrated RAM and a 512GB solid-state drive, and this configuration is advertised at $1,255.34. These prices are among the most reasonable in the industry, and given that Apple was accused in the past of overcharging for its devices, it emphasizes the significant change in the company’s pricing policy.
