MediaTeks new Kompanio 540 chipset

Designed especially for the education-market Chromebook category, MediaTek, a global semiconductor company, has launched its newest processor, the Kompanio 540. The chip promises much improved energy efficiency, opening the door for full-day use on lightweight, fanless laptops, the company claims.

MediaTek says the Kompanio 540 includes six Cortex-A55 cores paired with two high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores in its eight-core design. Additional specifications further emphasize the support for UFS 3.1 storage and advanced LPDDR5 memory. It provides a great opportunity for the students to go for faster data retrieval so that they can have more fluid multitasking.

The power usage is among the most important upgrades: MediaTek says the new chip offers up to 35% more battery life than the earlier one. generation (Kompanio 520) in Google Chromebook deployments. The Kompanio 540 is also advertised by the company as supporting fanless designs, hence ideal for silent, cool-running portable devices. The comments from the boardroom of Google focus on the strategic path, “We’re eager to see the Kompanio 540 power more Chromebooks and bring a balance of power.” The vice president of Google ChromeOS mentioned that it offers efficiency to the users who can rely on it, and it will give them a complete day of work and play.

Kompanio 540 chipset boosts Chromebook battery life by up to 35 percent

The Kompanio 540 also enables external 4K monitors, current connectivity standards including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and a dual-core graphics engine. It is capable of working with less battery stress, controlling streaming, creative applications, and rudimentary gaming.
